With distance you have the power of surveillance skill.
In this chapter we illustrate that all criminal minds want to get close enough to you to take you by surprise. For this reason we advise having your back to a wall and eyes on your exit when in public spaces that might put you at risk in engaging with criminals. Having your back to the wall will make it impossible for anyone to close distance on you without you seeing them as you will have a full 180 degree perspective of your surroundings. This will force anyone wanting to engage with you head on and you will have the power to move when you want. Here the attacker will close the distance on you and the importance of checking their hand to know if they are left or right handed, whether they are concealing a hand. You study the exact attack. All weapons used in training are safe simulators.
Strike 1st, strike hard and move. Our longest range weapon on our body is our straight push kick. We will train the timing and the basic biomechanics behind delivering an effective kick, the get too distance, higher ground higher weapon.
